Sunshine Woods Block Watch has regular events, among them our annual BBQ
Sunshine Woods has become known in North Delta for our Annual Block Watch BBQ, which is a little larger than the average Block Watch BBQ. As a result, many residents of other areas of Delta have expressed an interest in what I am doing, for that reason I have started organizing Community Safety / FireSmart forums at community theatres. The first was held at the North Delta Centre for the Arts and was a fun event to put together. For this reason, as well as requests from those in South Delta, I am now arranging a Community Safety / FireSmart Forum at the Genesis Theatre in Ladner on March 15th, 2025.
This brings me to the newest addition to the Sunshine Woods Block Watch group. After attending a FireSmart™ Event put on by Delta Fire and Rescue and FireSmartBC™, I realized FireSmart is exactly what Sunshine Woods needed, in fact, I started imagining a natural symbiotic relationship between FireSmart BC's Neighbourhood Recognition program and Block Watch. After a few discussions with the folks at FireSmart BC, I signed myself up as a FireSmart LFR. You can find other local LFR's at the FireSmart BC LFR listing

Moving back to the BBQ, we had Ember the FireSmartBC™ Mascot there for the kids to enjoy. Delta Police, Delta Fire, and Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers were also part of the event. The community Safety Forum will also include a presentation on how to put together your own Block Watch group or other community event in your neighbourhood. |

A flash back from the 2023 BBQ, our first year with the City of Delta Portable stage, a great resource for community events within the City of Delta. This year we plan on bringing the stage back and adding the school gym as a place to do some educational presentations. |
