Crime is less likely to flourish in a COMMUNITY where NEIGHBOURS KNOW one another
Sunshine Woods Block watch operates in partnership with the Delta Police Department, Block Watch is a very effective program for deterring crime through communication and training. Block Watch is also a great way to get to know your neighbours through social and educational events. It is important to note, there are no required patrols of the neighbourhood, by Block Watch participants. Signing up for Block Watch also does not subject you to an invasion of your privacy, as your personal contact information is kept private; for this reason, all Captains must go through a criminal record check.
Independent studies have shown an active crime prevention program, such as Block Watch, can reduce the likelihood of your home being burglarized by up to 60%. Block Watch operates out of your local Police Department or Community Police office.
Block Watch encourages residents to report suspicious activity and all crime, no matter how small, through Delta Police non-emergency (604-946-4411) or in the case of an Emergency, 911. Block Watch also provides a quick way to disseminate important information to the neighbourhood through Block Watch Captains / Co-Captains.
